A graduate of the John Molson School of Business in Montreal with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Athanasse or Athan Zafirov also holds a master’s degree in economics from the Institute of Applied Economics. He began his career at Letko-Brosseau in Montreal, where he researched mutual funds and sovereign wealth funds, and developed Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) tools for portfolio managers. Athanasse Zafirov went on to serve as an analyst at Vigilant Global Trade Services, also in Montreal.

In his role at Vigilant Global Trade Services, Mr. Zafirov conducted fundamental analysis and management interviews in the utilities, energy, and materials sectors. He also performed macroeconomics modeling on several countries, including Canada and Russia, in addition to creating reports on economic data for emerging markets.

Over the course of his career, Athanasse Zafirov has learned several programs, such as SQL 9, VB.NET, C#, Oracle 9i, PHP, and JavaScript. Also skilled with languages, he is fluent in English and French, and can speak and write basic Urdu.
